2014-2015 Intervention Programs
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading program which creates enthusiastic readers. Students have the option of reading a fiction or non-fiction book, textbook, or magazine. The reading software assessment tool assesses a student’s reading level, suggests titles of books at that level and assesses whether a student has completed reading the book by asking a series of quiz questions. Information about the student’s reading level, comprehension skills, reading rates and amount of reading are provided for teachers to assist, motivate reading, monitor progress and target instruction. AR promotes parental involvement and support with web-based school-to-home communications. The program builds students’ vocabulary and reading comprehension as they become lifelong readers.
