Riverside School Arrival and Dismissal Procedures 2018-2019
Due to our staffing numbers the parking lot now has dedicated spots for each staff member which are indicated by number. Parents are asked not to park in numbered spots or to block vehicles in. There are two visitor spots that parents are encouraged to use. Vehicles that are blocking designated parking locations will be towed at the owner’s expense. The middle lane must be kept open for emergency vehicles at all times.
Parents may park on Montrose and Glencliffe from 10:00 AM-3:30 PM, except during special events. At all other times we ask that you park on neighboring streets, such as Birchwood and Westland. This will allow for carline vehicles to quickly and safely leave the school area.

Parents/Guardians will pull up to the Montrose entrance and drop off students. Vehicles will enter the Riverside circle by traveling on Montrose from Warren Road. At the circle, they will be lined up at the curb. The row will stop two feet before the entrance, where a staff member will direct them. Four cones will be placed a car length away from each other, near the front door. Vehicles will be moved forward to the cones. A staff member will be present to open doors and ensure smooth entrance to the building.
Students may enter at either door beginning at 9:10 AM for breakfast.
No parent/guardian vehicles should be entering the parking lot during arrival or dismissal.
Please review the dismissal information with your child(ren), so that they will know where to meet you when you are picking them up and/or where to meet their siblings.
Car Line PreK and Kindergarten:

Car Line Grades 1-8:
Parents/Guardians will pull up to the Montrose entrance to pick up students. A staff member will be present to open doors and assist students getting into the vehicle.
All walkers will exit out of the Glencliffe door. If your child in grades K-3 has permission to walk home alone, please make sure to fill out the walking waiver provided by the main office.
All buses will unload and load at the Glencliffe entrance.
At Riverside, our children’s and staff’s safety and well-being come first. Parents/guardians, whenever you enter the building, please report immediately to the Main Office. You will be asked to sign the Visitor Log as well as run through our RAPTOR System. Identification is needed to enter the building. The RAPTOR system will print out a visitors pass.
Please note: If you report to a classroom without a visitors pass, you will be asked to return to the office and obtain one. If necessary, please make sure updated custody information is on file in the Main Office. Parents and visitors will not be granted entry into the building after 3:00 PM unless they are picking up Pre-Kindergarten students (please utilize the Glencliffe side entrance). This is to ensure that we utilize every minute possible for learning.
Metal detectors will be used as students, parents, and visitors enter into the school each and every day. Students, parents, and visitors will be asked to place all belongings on the table before walking through the detector. Your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated.
