Pathway: Exercise Science and Sports Medicine
Description: The Exercise Science/Sports and Recreation Health Care Program is designed for career technical education students in Grades 10-12. The technical focus of the program is on functional anatomy and exercise science; health appraisal and fitness testing; exercise programming; nutrition and weight management; injury recognition and prevention; rehabilitation and treatment; and education and counseling. In addition, a core body of knowledge (e.g., communication, legal and ethical, health and safety) is provided to prepare students for the 21st century workplace. Students transitioning to post secondary education will receive reinforcement and additional training in these areas. The curriculum is driven by industry standards, which prepares individuals for variety of certifications/licenses, including: personal training certification and CPR/First Aid.
