Thursday September 15, more than 60 parents entered MLK to melodies of smooth jazz and the welcoming smiles of our greeters during MLK Open House. During the Open House, parents received their child's 1st quarter progress report. Parent's also had the opportunity to meet with their child's teachers to discuss their students' progress. Grade level teams then presented to parents the 2016-17 School Year Curriculum. The 9th, 10th, 11th ,and 12th grade teachers explained to all parents the coursework for the year, grading scales, projects, and contact information. The MLK Administrative team closed out the grade level meetings with a Title I presentation. Title I is a federally funded program that provides extra resources to schools that need support. Under Title I parents are to be informed about how federal dollars are allocated at the school. A variety of community supports were present as well including Goodrich Gannon's P4SS, The Cleveland Public Library, Voter Registration, and Cleveland Catholic Charities. The Family and Community Engagement Office provide light refreshments to close the evening out.Open House serves as the beginning of the year initiative to increase Parental Involvement. Parents were encouraged to attend the 1st Parent Activity Meeting on Thursday Oct 13 from 5pm to 6:30 pm as well as Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday Oct 20 12 pm to 7 pm.
