IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM JOHN MARSHALL HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPALS TIMOTHY PRIMUS, CHELSEA COOK AND SARA KIDNER
To Families & Caregivers of students attending the John Marshall HS Campus:
Several posts being shared on social media regarding threats of violence at our school have been deemed by security officers NOT to be credible threats.
While a few people in our school community have spread rumors of these threats on social media, I am grateful to those of you who instead have notified us of these posts, so our safety forces could investigate, verify and set the record straight.
The proper way to deal with a real or false threat is to notify police and school officials and not to share the threat and risk spreading fear where it is unwarranted.
It is not unusual to see a spike in such threats or rumors of threats after a school tragedy has made national news. It is irresponsible, however, for anyone to raise anxiety further by posting or spreading false information about student safety in our schools.
Please know that we take all such threats seriously, and your vigilance and responsible reporting of these threats or posts is an important part of of our school safety measures. Your help is appreciated in reminding students and others that making or posting any threat--real or false-- can lead to serious consequences for the person posting the message and those they affect.
Our Anonymous Alerts tip line is monitored 24-hours a day. Students and families are reminded to report any concern or suspicious activity to 216-838-SAFE (7233) or download our Anonymous Alerts app on the CMSD website today.
Thank you for the opportunity to correct misinformation about student safety at John Marshall High School Campus, and we look forward to seeing our students in school today.
Sincerely,Timothy PrimusChelsey CookSara KidnerApril 20,2018
