  • Summer Climate Change PD

Climate Change 2.0: Connecting Your Classroom to the Issues in Your CommunityClimate Change 2.0: Connecting Your Classroom to the Issues in Your Community Join us for another round of learning about and exploring the issues in our community that are related to climate change. Holden Forests & Gardens and The Curriculum Department at the Bay Village Schools join forces again to present a 3 day workshop on the science, local issues and classroom connections that can be made while covering the topics related to climate. Ohio Sea Grant will be sharing their curriculum resources and you will see how the Bay Village Schools have incorporated everything from weather stations to citizen science into their curriculum. Learning about the Cleveland Tree Plan and visiting locations that are taking a lead in planting trees might give you some ideas on ways to involve your own school in similar activities. Touring the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer Districts lab and Southerly Wastewater Treatment Center and a visit to the Watershed Stewardship Center will inform us about the water issues that we see in the news all the time. Learn how to incorporate these concepts into your classroom and see how it applies to the standards. Take part in hands on activities that bring the concepts to life in your classroom and leave with resources to help you weave it seamlessly into your curriculum. Date: July 17, 19 and 24 Time: 9 am-3 pm Location: Bay Village City Schools, Cleveland Botanical Garden and The Watershed Stewardship Center Cost: $150 Graduate Credit available for $100 – 1 SH from Lake Erie College Register at www.holdenarb.org or by calling 440.602.3833. Contact Sharon Graper, Director of Academics at 440.602.3843 with any questions.
