Welcome Class of 2021!!!
I am thrilled to welcome the inaugural class of Rhodes School of Environmental Studies! Over the last year, representatives from the Old Brooklyn/Cleveland community, CMSD parents and students have been collaborating to design our school. All of those pieces will come together on our first day of school – July 31st at 8am! On the first day of school, we will meet in the cafeteria and go from there.
For the last several weeks, your teachers and other staff members have been working to get ready for our opening. The first week of school will be filled with orientation activities. During this week, we will also pick classes and finalize your course schedule. Make sure to dress comfortably and wear tennis shoes because we’ll be moving around a lot. When classes begin the second week of school, we will follow the CMSD dress code. The approved colors for shirts are: blue (light or navy), white or gray. If you have questions about the dress code, the full policy can be accessed here: http://www.clevelandmetroschools.org/Page/54.
We will be partnering with Summit Public Schools out of California for our learning management system, which was designed by Facebook engineers. Last spring we applied to the program and were accepted, so this is a huge honor. You’ll learn more about this in the coming weeks, but it is a fantastic opportunity for our scholars.
Enclosed you will find a flyer about our back-to-school meet and greet and a supply list. The supply list is some general supplies that you will need for all of your classes. Teachers may identify additional supplies and will share this information with you after the school year begins.
Our back to school meet and greet will take place on July 25th from 4:30-6:30pm. We will have refreshments and you will be able to meet teachers and walk around campus. Our classrooms will be located on the first floor of Rhodes High School. For this event, please park in the lot located off West 54th Street.
The full academic calendar is available on CMSD’s website, you can link to it from the “About Us” section. Here are some important dates to remember: Open House on September 14 (which is an early release for students), Fall Break on September 25-October 13, Parent / Teacher Conferences on October 26. Please check our website (www.clevelandmetroschools.org/rhodesenvstu), follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/rhodesenvstu) and/or like us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/rhodesenvstu). This is where you can find the most up-to-date information on our opening and throughout the year.
