The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company will donate $1 million for STEM education in Northeast Ohio, with half of the money going to CMSD.
The donation was announced Monday, when the Cavs and Goodyear revealed a multiyear sponsorship agreement. The agreement calls for Goodyear’s logo to appear on Cavaliers player uniforms, beginning in the 2017-18 season.
"Both organizations have a long and deep history of supporting community initiatives in Akron, Cleveland and across Northeast Ohio," a news release said. "The funding will expand their reach even further."
The total donation of $1 million will support STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education in Cleveland and Akron. CMSD’s share will help bolster the District's ongoing efforts to provide high-quality STEM instruction for all students.
