Roving cleaning crews will help keep CMSD’s larger buildings tidy.
One three-member unit began making the rounds last week and another was preparing to take to the road soon, said Nicholas Jackson, deputy chief of transportation and facilities. The mobile teams will concentrate on the 18 to 20 schools that measure at least 100,000 square feet.
Two or three cleaners strain to care for each of the schools at night. Lincoln-West High School, the District’s largest school spans 337,000 square feet, the equivalent of 168 2,000-square-foot homes.
The traveling crews will lighten the workload by focusing on problem areas like restrooms or stairwells. The crews will get to each of the schools about once every 10 days, Jackson said.
