Schools can win weather equipment from WKYC

CMSD’s K-8 schools will compete to win weather monitoring and forecasting equipment in a contest sponsored by WKYC-TV.

To be eligible to win Davis Vantage Vue Weather Stations, schools must submit two-minute videos on the theme, “We are the Weather Warriors.”

The public and a contest committee will pick 10 winning schools. School locations will play a role in the selections.

Schools will submit videos from Friday, Jan. 8 through noon Tuesday, Jan. 19. The public will vote Jan. 21-22 and the committee will vote Jan. 25-27.

WKYC will announce the winners on the air in early February. The equipment will be installed later that month.

The rooftop stations will allow the students to make forecasts while gaining a deeper understanding of weather and atmospheric concepts. Students will get to work with the WKYC weather team, including Chief Meteorologist Betsy Kling and Meteorologist Gregg Dee, and visit the Channel 3 studio.
