Cavs serve Thanksgiving dinner to Project ACT Students
CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers players Kyrie Irving, Anderson Varejao, Luke Walton, Luke Harangody, Jon Leuer and Alonzo Gee served dinner Tuesday night to 150 families from Cleveland's Project ACT Tuesday evening.
The players swapped their jerseys and sneakers for chef hats and aprons as they manned carving stations, alongside ARAMARK chefs to serve turkey and a family style dinner with all the fixin's including dressing, mashed potatoes, yams, corn and beverages.
For dessert, the players mingled with their guests over homemade pumpkin and apple pies at Bridges at Quicken Loans Arena.
Project ACT (Action for Children and Youth in Transition) ensures that homeless youth have access to the same free and appropriate education all housed students receive within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
Barriers that may prevent students from attending school are eliminated for homeless students through the advocacy of the Project ACT staff and in partnership with all necessary district departments and community resources.
