Seven Collinwood High School athletes face varying consequences for their involvement in an altercation that broke out during the third quarter of a football game against Garfield Heights Friday night, CMSD Athletics Commissioner Leonard Jackson announced Monday.
Based on their levels of involvement, one Collinwood player faces discipline from the Ohio High School Athletic Association and six other players are being disciplined by the Collinwood principal and coach.
“The Cleveland Metropolitan School District has a zero tolerance for unsportsmanlike conduct at games,” said Jackson. “This is a teachable moment for all of our athletes and a warning that such behavior has no place in interscholastic athletics.”
Jackson and Chief Executive Officer Eric Gordon expressed their appreciation to individuals in Garfield Heights who acted quickly to manage the incident.
