Office 365 Software Download Overview
CMSD has established an enterprise agreement with Microsoft Corporation that entitles active students and employees free access to download and install the latest full version of Office 365 ProPlus on up to fifteen (15) personal devices (e.g., personal computers, tablets or phones). Please note that the software will only function for as long as you are an active student or employee within CMSD. For now, only employees will have free access to download the Office 365 ProPlus.

GENERAL INFORMATION
For now, only employees will have free access to download Office 365 ProPlus. Active students and employees are entitled to free access to download and install the latest full version of Office 365 ProPlus on up to fifteen (15) personal devices. Please note that the software will only function for as long as you are an active student or employee with CMSD.
Yes, this is the latest version of Office 365 ProPlus with complete functionality. Students and employees can install Office 365 ProPlus directly to their personal device and use it with or without internet access.
CMSD employees have access to Office ProPlus as long as they are an employee within the district. Within 30 days of an employee departure, their software will enter a Reduced Functionality mode, which will give users read-only access to their Microsoft files. They will have the option to purchase Office 365 ProPlus on their own for a fee.
CMSD students have access to their Office 365 ProPlus software as long as they are an active student within the district. If a student is no longer enrolled in CMSD their license will expire within thirty (30) days of their departure. Within 30 days of their departure, their software will enter a Reduced Functionality mode, which will give users read-only access to their Microsoft files. They will have the option to purchase Office ProPlus on their own at a fee.
In reduced functionality mode, Office 365 ProPlus remains installed on the computer, but users can only view and print their documents. All features for editing or creating new documents are disabled, and the user will see a “Product Deactivated” message.
No. Office 365 ProPlus purchased for personal use is a consumer product. The software is available through CMSD’s existing enterprise agreement with Microsoft.
Yes. You can download and install Office 365 ProPlus on up to fifteen (15) personal devices, including personal computers, Macs, mobile phones, or tablets.
No. A student or employee can only install Office 365 ProPlus on their personal/home devices and not on district-owned devices. CMSD has a separate agreement with Microsoft for software installation on district-owned devices. The Department of Information Technology (DoIT) is responsible for installation of software on district-owned devices.
HOW TO
To install Office ProPlus on desktops, individuals should go to https://www.office.com/signin and login using their CMSD email username and password. Your username should be entered as username@clevelandmetroschools.org. Once logged in, click on the “Install Office 2016” icon at the top-right menu and follow the step-by-step instructions. SUPPORT AND TRAINING
Due to liability and the overwhelming number of variables associated with home computer environments, the Department of Information Technology (DoIT)/Support Center is unable to assist with support of Microsoft Office products installed on personal computers at home.
Employees and students downloading Office 365 ProPlus are entitled to the same support options as other Microsoft customers purchasing software for home use, including free access to resources and newsgroups on the support.microsoft.com website, pay-per-use e-mail and telephone support.
