Mrs. Galvin

Welcome to Kindergarten, Room A136 Scripps College! My name is Pauline Galvin, and I am very honored and excited to have this wonderful opportunity to be your daughter’s new Kindergarten teacher at Warner Girls Leadership Academy for the 2021-2022 school year. This year will be my 30th year as a teacher. Teaching Kindergarten is my favorite grade to teach! There is an exciting year awaiting your daughter, designed to promote and enhance her growth and development. This very important year promises to be one filled with discovery and joy as your daughter works and plays in an environment that is warm, safe, challenging, and enables your daughter to have various opportunities to be a great leader. In my classroom, your daughter is cared about. My goal is to encourage her to be the best person she can be, and provide support, and establish a strong partnership with you throughout the school year. Your daughter has wonderful gifts, strengths, and talents that I can’t wait for her to share with her classmates and me. Your daughter is wonderful and unique, and I am very grateful to be her teacher.

In reading, I will help your daughter learn about letters, sounds, letter formation, and how to read and write her name, and sight words and sentences. She will recognize and produce rhyming words, count syllables, and identify characters, settings, and major events in stories. She will retell stories and use various apps on the IPads that we have in our classroom to extend this learning. In math, she will learn to count to 100 by 1s and 10s, learn to add and subtract and compare and create different shapes. In science, she will observe and describe the weather and the seasons, observe and describe living things, and observe the production of sound. In social studies, she will name/identify the symbols and practices of the United States of America, understand that maps represent actual places, and explain the difference between a need and a want.

Kindergarten is a time for children to expand their love of learning, their general knowledge, their ability to get along with others, and to work as a team when needed. They will have different classroom jobs and assume leadership roles in the classroom. Kindergarten life is sweet with all the fun and exciting activities. Let’s all gear up for a very positive and successful school year! Please feel free to contact me throughout the school year. I want to be your partner in supporting your daughter in any way. ClassDojo is a wonderful and easy way to contact me, and for me to contact you also.

                                                                                         Sincerely,                                                                      Mrs. Pauline Galvin
