PROTOCOLS FOR RESPONDING TO
Positive COVID Cases
CMSD has taken numerous steps to protect students and staff from contracting Covid-19. But the District will closely follow state guidelines if a student, teacher, other staff member or coach tests positive for the coronavirus and might have been in contact with your child during the infectious period.
Parents or caregivers of students, or staff who have been diagnosed with Covid-19 by laboratory test or clinical examination should call the District’s Covid-19 hotline (216.838.WELL) within 24 hours of receiving the confirmed test result.
After the District learns that a student, teacher, other staff member or coach is found to have tested positive, the following will occur:
- The District will immediately report the case to the Cleveland Department of Public Health, which will initiate contact tracing and notify individuals who might have been exposed during the infectious period.
- Within 24 hours, the school or District will provide written notification to parents or caregivers of children who shared classroom space or participated in an activity with the student, teacher, other staff member or coach during the infectious period. The District will share as much information as possible while also protecting protected personal information.
- Within 24 hours, the school or District will provide written notification to parents and caregivers of all students in the school by email or notice posted on a designated website.
- The District will update a dashboard displaying case totals for the District and individual schools. The dashboard is to be updated every Thursday by 5 p.m.
To ensure that notice is received in a timely fashion, please make sure that you have current contact information on file with your school.
