Degrees and Certifications:

Ellen Hardiman-Hodges

I have been a CMSD Educator for 22 years.

My journey began with a passion to experiment with new recipes and my favorite subject in high school, chemistry.  After graduating from the University of Akron with a degree in Food Science and Nutrition, I accepted a position with the State of Ohio as a Food Service Coordinator.  As my appreciation for food service grew and I decided to explore my interest in public health, I moved to Cleveland, Ohio and accepted a position with the City of Cleveland as a Public Health Sanitarian, Health Inspector.  I inspected restaurants, grocery stores, barber shops and swimming pools. I educated many food service operators on the importance of proper food safety.  Still seeking a challenge, I sought to become an educator.  I currently teach Hospitality Fundamentals, Restaurant Management, and proctor ServSafe certification courses.

My hobbies include Ceramics (hand building and wheel throwing) and Printmaking (Intaglio, Lithography, and Relief).
