Who Must Make a Choice?
1. Students at schools that are transitioning due to Building Brighter Futures. Students at merging schools need to confirm welcoming school/seat.

Families that are currently not attending a CMSD school that want to enroll for the 26/27 school year (K-HS)
Note for K-8 Schools: Scholars at Kenneth Clement Boys' Leadership Academy, Stonebrook-White Montessori, Dike School of the Arts and Tremont Montessori will NOT have to make a choice unless they want to explore other options than moving to the new location for the 2026-27 School Year.
Note for High Schools: Scholars at the co-located highs schools will NOT have to make a choice unless they want to explore other options for the 2026-27 School Year. These are the co-located high schools at the new John Hay Campus, Lincoln-West Campus, John Marshall Campus, James Ford Rhodes Campus, Lakeside Campus and Garrett Morgan Campus.

Reserved Seat at Welcoming SchoolCurrent scholars in grades K-7 and 9-11 at transitioning schools have a reserved seat at their paired welcoming school. Families MUST confirm their reserved seat in the School Choice Portal, which will be open from January 5, 2026, through February 27, 2026.

First Priority for Available Seats at All Other SchoolsFamilies who wish to explore other options should know that students transitioning or moving to a new school will receive FIRST PRIORITY, based on availability, at all schools for which they are eligible during the School Choice application process. To receive this priority, families must submit a School Choice application between January 5 and February 27.

All current 8th graders across CMSD will continue to be supported in making a high school choice during the School Choice application process.
