Evidence for ESSA

In December, 2015, Congress passed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), replacing No Child Left Behind (NCLB) as the main federal law governing K-12 education. Within the bill are provisions with potentially revolutionary implications for education because they promote the use of federal dollars on programs with evidence of effectiveness. More evidence on what works to increase student success is available now than ever before, and ESSA encourages the use of strategies with evidence of impact.

Evidence for ESSA: This website is produced by the Center for Research and Reform in Education (CRRE) at Johns Hopkins University School of Education, in collaboration with a Technical Work Group and a Stakeholder Advisory Group. It identifies programs and practices that meet the ESSA evidence standards. You can search for programs by name, by subject and grade, or narrow your search to programs that have been evaluated in districts similar to ours. It identifies which level of evidence for ESSA a program meets, provides a snapshot of the program’s description and cost, and gives information about its evaluation of the program.

NREPP

National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP)

 

This registry is compiled by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Information is compiled about evidence-based mental health and substance use interventions. This includes behavioral interventions that may be appropriate for use in the schools. The NREPP website provides detailed profiles of each program, including outcome-level ratings, program contact information, a description of the intervention, supporting evidence, and information on resources for implementation.

The What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) reviews the existing research on different programs, products, practices, and policies in education. Our goal is to provide educators with the information they need to make evidence-based decisions.

Ohio's Evidence-Based Clearinghouse

 

The Ohio’s Evidence-Based Clearinghouse is produced by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). It compiles information on evidence-based strategies and is designed for use by not only researchers, but educators and building leaders as well. It allows the user to filter programs by: content focus area, subject, grade band, demographics, evidence level, and type of district.
