Pathway: Allied Health Nursing
Description: Allied health and nursing – The nursing assistance program at MLK focuses on patient care, especially for the elderly. Students learn the skills needed to help patients with their Activities of Daily Living, also known as ADL’s. Students learn how to assist patients with feeding, dressing, grooming, rehabilitation and bathing. In their junior year students are required to complete 24 hours of clinical experience at local patient care centers. Students that meet the requirements are eligible to take the state test for nursing assistants. Students who graduate with this certification can expect to get well paying jobs in hospitals, nursing homes or with home health care agencies.
Industry Certification: State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) License
