  • Paul Revere School celebrates legacy (video)

    5/21/2015 -- CMSD is taking Paul Revere School out of service after a 92-year ride, but the Raiders are going out on a high note. Students, staff, volunteers and alumni gathered in the gym Wednesday for an upbeat “concluding ceremony.” The last eighth-grade class, dressed in graduation gowns, stole the show with old-school dance moves displayed to Kool & The Gang’s “celebration.”

  • Student advisory council tackles major issues

    5/12/2015 -- Cashalynn Bolden will graduate from Glenville High School next week knowing that she made a difference at the school and across the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Cashalynn and dozens of other members of the CEO’s Student Advisory Council met Tuesday morning at Windows on the River for the council’s fourth and final meeting of the school year.

  • CMSD trains charter boards, managers

    5/11/2015 -- CMSD expanded its work with charter school operators on Monday, hosting a five-hour training program for more than 50 charter board members and management company representatives. The District conducted the training with three other charter school “authorizers,” or sponsors: the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation, the Ohio Department of Education and the Toledo-based Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West.

  • Districts share social, emotional learning strategies

    5/8/2015 -- The Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning, the conference sponsor, launched the Collaborating Districts Initiative in 2011. CASEL selected the eight member districts to lead a national movement in helping children manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy, develop positive relationships and make responsible decisions.

  • Facing History students host Human Rights Summit (video)

    5/5/2015 -- Facing History New Tech students earlier this year interviewed figures in the Civil Rights movement and will reveal their work on Wednesday at their second annual Human Rights Summit. Meanwhile, the movie "Selma" is released on DVD today and we take you back to a 1967 MLK speech at Glenville High.
