    Martial Arts Fun Fitness Bootcamp”

    Self-protection takes many forms. Many parents worry about their teens being safe on the street yet one of the real problems concerns a teen’s ability to defend themselves against other teens. Martial Arts Fun Fitness Bootcamp teaches teens to think instead of panic in potentially serious situations as well as how to react to threats from others. Martial Arts Fun Fitness Bootcamp will cover topics on de-escalating skills, listening to understand, prevention on bullying or harassment, and unwanted touches. 

    “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words”

    Students will learn to use all the features of a camera as they develop a story through the art of photography. 

    “Marching Band" 

    Come March with us! The CMSD Summer marching Band is designed for students in both middle and high school that want to learn how to March and play a musical instrument. Students will choose and learn or advance their skills with Flute, clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone or Percussion (Bell Kit and drums).

    These scholars will learn how to work together as a marching ensemble for a performance on the field at the end of camp and prepare to march in parades over the school year.

     

    All-City Summer Cheer and Pep Squad 

    Have you ever wanted to show school spirit and couldn’t figure out how? Did you know there's a variety of options to choose from? Not sure what you want to do? Now is your chance to figure that out! Sign up today to learn and explore all these through the art of dance and movement! Learn the basics elements and techniques on how to put together arm motions, jumps, high kicks/ kick line techniques, formations, pom routines, dancing with props and much more!
     Join us this summer for a fun learning experience and perform what you have learned in parades, performances, and March with our CMSD marching band camp.  Take this knowledge to help build squads at your school such as Cheer, Majorettes, Flag Girls, Drill Team, and High Steppers!     “Children’s Theatre Technical Camp: Stage Crew”

    Have you always wanted to work behind the scenes on a musical? Ever wonder about all the amazing support roles and jobs available in the theatrical tech industry? Sign up today to learn how to safely create functional scenery and learn about the properties of lighting, sound, costumes, hair, and make-up. At the end of this 5-week camp you will work hands on behind the scenes on the theatre production. We hope to see you there!

    Volleyball 4 All”

    This will be an all-inclusive program designed to educate both female and male volleyball players on the physical, mental, and social emotional components of the sport. In addition to daily skill instruction and practice, student athletes will work together to learn about proper conditioning, nutrition, hydration, training schedules, and the vocabulary and offensive systems of the game.

    Fitness Fun in the Sun” Grades 1 - 2

    During Fitness Fun in the Sun, students will be exposed to several styles of fitness, exercises, and healthy living choices. Most activities will be recorded and used for reflection and demonstrations. At the end of each week, students will have the opportunity to get feedback from their teacher as well as the opportunity to visually see their progress, challenges, and achievements.

    Junior Naturalists” Grades 3 - 5

    This is a continuation of the Junior Naturalists project during the morning session. Students will apply their learning to designing and creating objects, inventions, graphics, and movies that move them closer to solving community issues related to nature. Throughout this opportunity, students will continue working in collaborative groups as they seek to solve a design challenge each week. Sample activities include building a bird house, certifying the school as a wildlife refuge through the creation of a small garden, designing and posting signs or videos related to our experiences, designing and creating functioning inventions to solve a community need, such as rain barrels, and more! Alongside this, students will gain valuable career pathway experiences in 3D engineering, CAD, broadcasting technology, graphic design, and video editing.

    All City Band” Grades 4 – 6

    Join in the musical celebration! All-City Summer Band Camp is designed for current 4th, 5th and 6th grade students who would like to be part of a band or choir program.  All skill and experience levels welcome! In the first weeks, students will rotate through a variety of experiences before settling in on a specific instrument, leading to a final performance.

    The CMSD Summer Band is designed for students that have played an instrument for 1 year or less or are making the switch to a new instrument. Students who have never played an instrument before should choose one of the following instruments: Flute, clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone or Percussion (Bell Kit and drums).

    Band and Choir will work together to create a full showcase of talents at the Summer Finale Performance for family and friends—and we will have plenty of opportunities all summer long to share skills and music.

    Does your kiddo love to sing, act and dance? If so, this children’s theatre camp is perfect! The Cleveland Metropolitan School district is offering Children's Theatre during our summer learning experience this year. Join us to learn theatre basics, form amazing friendships, and feel empowered to pursue a life-long passion for the arts.

    These young scholars will look at the bigger picture of producing a theatre production. Students will be cast in a show and given tasks based on their interests and skills to explore their passions by building their confidence. Students will sing, dance and act to memorize lines, songs, and musical numbers to perform a show for an audience. They will also learn how to safely create functional scenery and learn about the properties of lighting, sound, costumes, hair, and make-up. At the end of the camp perform a small theatre production at the end of this five-week program. We hope to see you there!

    Closing the Achievement Gap” Grades 6 – 8 Males

    The CTAG Summer Learning Experience (SLE) offers a four-week series of workshops outlining social emotional expectations for our targeted student population.  The purpose is to begin to prepare students for a smooth transition, both academically and socially into high school.  SLE programming promotes the development of self-awareness, behavior modification and navigation through the school environment and life in general.   Additional programming will include recreational activities and a weekly exposure trip.
