Volunteering

Volunteers Have a Positive Impact on
Children, Schools and Our City

Thank you for considering volunteering with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. When registering to volunteer, please review the guidelines that best work for your connection to the school district. If you have questions that are particular to a school, you can contact the school volunteer coordinator.

A CMSD “volunteer” under Ohio labor laws § 553.101 is defined. (a) An individual who performs hours of service for a public agency for civic, charitable, or humanitarian reasons, without promise, expectation or receipt of compensation for services rendered, is considered to be a volunteer during such hours.

Volunteers make a difference by:

  • Strengthening school programs
  • Helping to establish parent groups
  • Sponsoring special events
  • Serving on a school advisory committee

The Board of Education is committed to promoting community and family engagement to enhance our scholars’ education in a variety of in-school and extracurricular activities.
