Welcome to the 2026-27 school year. 

This year represents more than the start of a new school year; it marks the beginning of an important new chapter for CMSD. Across our district, we are implementing Building Brighter Futures, a plan designed to strengthen educational opportunities for students while ensuring our schools remain vibrant centers of learning and growth. 

Thanks to the dedication of our educators, staff, and school leaders, months of preparation have gone into ensuring a successful start for scholars and families. Today, students are returning to 59 schools with strong enrollment, creating the foundation for expanded academic offerings, broader extracurricular opportunities, and richer educational experiences. 

Families will see the benefits of this work across the district. Every CMSD high school now offers Advanced Placement courses, College Credit Plus, and career pathways, ensuring scholars have access to rigorous academics and real-world experiences that help them explore their interests and prepare for the future. These opportunities are creating stronger pathways to success in college, career, and life. 

As we begin this journey, I invite families to embrace the possibilities ahead and stay engaged with their school communities. Meaningful change happens over time, but every step we take is moving us closer to the future our students deserve.
