Websites

The following websites have terrific information for parents and families on a variety of health topics, including tips for talking to children about responsible sexual behavior.

 

Healthychildren.org by the American Academy of Pediatrics offers a Guide to Teens & Sex for parents.

A Family Guide from The U.S. Department of Health and Human Service, Office of Adolescent Healthoffers tips for talking to adolescents and teens about everything – including sex, relationships and birth control.

Kid’s Health has information for parents including age-appropriate topics for discussion and an option to listen to the information.

Advocates for Youth Parents’ Sex Ed Center provides support for parents who are beginning discussions about sexual health with their children. The site also offers assistance for parents who wish to advocate for comprehensive sexual health education in their child’s school.

Sex Education HQ was created by a physician and a parent to help parents discuss sexual health with their children.

The Mayo Clinic maintains a list of great tips for parents of adolescents and teens. 

Talk with Your Kids is The California Family Health website about how to talk about sex – and more!

Your Teen Magazine has a section about teen sexuality and advice for parents.

Tools for Parents from Planned Parenthood offers advice for parents, including about talking to children about sex and sexuality, setting healthy boundaries, and parenting LGBTQ and questioning youth.

Amaze.org is an age-appropriate website to peruse with your adolescents and teens. Informative, animated videos about sexuality, bullying, online safety and much more.
