Full school day restored in grades K-8

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Starting Tuesday, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District is adding 50 minutes back to school days in its K-8 schools, reversing the cuts previously made due to budget constraints.
Thanks to the passage of a levy Nov. 6, the district has the ability to add 50 minutes back to the school day, according to CEO Eric Gordon. The days were shortened last year.
The levy passed in November was a four-year, 15-mill operating levy.
It will provide $6.8 million in tax dollars to also be used to fund art, music and physical education programs, and add reading, mathematics and science intervention.
