Board approves teachers contract
3/22/2017 -- The Cleveland Board of Education voted Tuesday to approve a new three-year contract with the Cleveland Teachers Union, an agreement reached after more than a year of negotiations. Chief Executive Officer Eric Gordon said he was pleased to bring a contract to the board that people on both sides of the bargaining table viewed as fair.

CMSD grads ready for college, but enrollment down
3/16/2017 -- CMSD graduates are more prepared for college but enrolling in fewer numbers, a troubling trend that the Higher Education Compact of Greater Cleveland says the community needs to analyze and address. Graduates could be deterred by the cost of college, or they pass up more lucrative futures to take jobs in a rebounding economy, the Compact suggested in releasing an annual report Thursday at Cleveland State University.

Mayor calls for keeping focus on reform
3/9/2017 -- Cleveland made a “core, transformative decision” to support school reform four years ago but must keep pushing in education and other key areas to keep making progress, Mayor Frank G. Jackson said Thursday in his annual State of the City address. Continuing the reforms charted by The Cleveland Plan led a list that also included reducing crime and sustaining economic development that has spurred hundreds of millions of dollars in investment and created thousands of jobs.
