CEO to give State of the Schools address
8/28/2017 -- District Chief Executive Officer Eric Gordon will deliver the annual State of the Schools address at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. The CEO will update the public on progress the District has made under The Cleveland Plan, a state-approved blueprint for education reform in the city.

Students train to work at polls
8/24/2017 -- Dozens of CMSD high school students will head to the polls in a few weeks, not just as voters but also as elections workers. The students, who will carry the title of elections official, are being trained to work Cleveland’s September primary and the November general election.

8/21/2017 -- CMSD students learned about and witnessed the wonder of the solar eclipse on Monday. From creating their own pinhole viewing devices to celebrating with safe viewing parties outside, many teachers planned educational activities to mark this rare celestial event -- an eclipse that occurred only in the United States.

East Tech Boys & Girls Club opens Tuesday
8/17/2017 -- East Tech becomes the ninth CMSD school to serve as a Boys & Girls Club site, joining John Adams and Lincoln-West high schools and Franklin D. Roosevelt, Michael R. White, Andrew J. Rickoff, Mound, Luis Muñoz Marin and Walton schools. Nationally, Boys & Girls Clubs have moved from operating stand-alone centers to co-existing alongside partners like the District.

Cleveland students, staff excited for new school year (video)
Students received a warm welcome back all across CMSD on the first day of school. From a DJ, to a standing ovation, to the thrill of a brand new building, the day was filled with a lot of smiles, excitement, and hard work. Most of the District began classes on August 9.

Three new models start the school year

Researchers get $400,000 to study impact of CMSD school climate
