CEO moves up to chair-elect of urban schools council
6/29/2018 -- CEO Eric Gordon will be the new chair-elect of the Council of the Great City Schools, putting him in line to lead the prestigious group a year from now.

6/28/2018 -- Twice a year, students present their best work in video game design, audio production, film production and graphic design, along with projects from their core classes, during a schoolwide event. The school held a “Red Carpet Showcase” to highlight student work from the second half of the school year.

Max Hayes team headed for Special Olympics U.S.A Games
6/28/2018 -- A team from Max S. Hayes High School will represent Ohio in basketball next week when Seattle hosts the 2018 Special Olympics U.S.A. Games. The 10 male players, who will take a flight to Seattle on Saturday, will be among more than 4,000 athletes and coaches who come together from all 50 states and the District of Columbia to compete in 14 sports.

CEO wins Smart 50 Awards
6/28/2018 -- Corporate College and Smart Business magazine honored the CEO and 49 other top executives with presentation of the annual Smart 50 Awards at the Intercontinental Hotel. Gordon also received a separate award for regional impact, one of three special categories that also include innovation and sustainability.

Bard's first 4-year class graduates with head start on college

Leaders seek public's support in building debate
6/7/2018 -- CMSD leaders and a city councilman took their case to the public on Tuesday, asking for help in the fight to restore millions in state funds for school construction and renovation. About 70 people turned out at Joseph M. Gallagher School for the first in a series of community meetings on the District’s master facilities plan.

Charters can apply for CMSD sponsorship
6/4/2018 -- The Cleveland Plan, a state-approved blueprint for education reform in the city, calls for students to receive the best possible education, regardless of the provider. CMSD currently serves as the state-required sponsor, or authorizer, for 11 charter schools, monitoring their performance and supplying technical oversight.
