4/30/2019 -- Student talent in science, technology, engineering, arts and math will be showcased when CMSD hosts the 20th annual Rock Your World with STEAM festival Saturday, May 18 on the downtown lakefront.

Musical nominated for 7 awards
4/30/2019 -- This year’s All-City Musical, “42nd Street,” has been nominated for seven Dazzle Awards, a regional high school theater competition. The 2019 Dazzle Awards, presented by Pat and John Chapman, will be announced May 18 at Playhouse Square's Connor Palace.

Gamers find niche with esports
4/29/2019 -- CMSD has updated its high school instructional models to better reflect the times and student interests. But extracurricular activities have some catching up to do. Some change has arrived, with the debut of esports, played by video game teams at the Cleveland High School for Digital Arts and John Marshall School of Information Technology.

School board honors 3,000 volunteers
4/23/2019 -- Volunteers are active in more than 90 percent of the District's 100-plus schools, including all of its PreK- and K-8 schools. About 80 percent of the volunteers signed up on their own; the rest are with 54 community partners, up from 35 last year.

Say Yes announces first schools to receive support services
4/24/2019 -- Say Yes Cleveland has selected the first 16 CMSD schools to receive services that will help students stay on track to graduation and Say Yes scholarships. The 10 PreK or K-8 schools and six high schools were selected from among 29 schools that applied to be in an initial cohort. All CMSD schools will have core services by the 2022-23 school year.

Grant will help CMSD support new principals
4/23/2019 -- CMSD has received a $595,000 grant to develop a program for supporting and retaining the central figures in District reform – school principals. The Cleveland-based Abington Foundation has awarded the grant as part of its mission to enhance education, health care, arts and culture and other causes, primarily in Cuyahoga County.
