CMSD dedicates new Halle School (Photo gallery)
8/23/2019 -- Students from H. Barbara Booker School moved to the school in February, and the Board of Education approved the Halle name. The property is on Halle Avenue and was formerly the site of a Halle School.

City Club panel sees Say Yes difference
8/23/2019 -- Say Yes, the nation’s fourth community chapter of Say Yes to Education, provides tuition scholarships and support services that keep students on track to high school graduation. As a result, panelists said, the question is no longer whether a child will go on to college or other postsecondary education, but when.

8/22/2019 -- The school has enjoyed strong backing from the late George Voinovich, a former Cleveland mayor, Ohio governor and U.S. senator, and his wife, Janet. Their daughter, Molly, was a student there when she was struck and killed by a van in 1979.

8/12/2019 -- In schools on both sides of town, the mood was light. Staff and volunteers clapped and cheered as students entered buildings. One school literally rolled out a red carpet lined with velvet ropes; a DJ played pop hits as students arrived.

Say Yes mentors, students begin their journey (Photo gallery)
8/7/2019 -- Up to 1,300 people paired off Tuesday to get acquainted and begin a journey, side by side, through higher education. The occasion was annual kickoff of College Now of Greater Cleveland’s mentoring program, which brought together volunteers and the new college freshmen they will guide.

Tri-C series offers parents free courses
8/1/2019 -- CMSD parents and caregivers can take courses and earn college credit, tuition free, with classes offered at two District schools. The courses, which are also open to parents and caregivers of students who attend partnering charter schools, are being offered through Cuyahoga Community College.
