CEO Weekly Focus

March 25, 2024

Greetings CMSD Families and Friends,

This Women's History Month, we are proud to celebrate the incredible women throughout CMSD who contribute to our District's success while serving in various roles.

I am especially excited about this month’s launch of a pilot program to help commemorate Women’s History month. The Sister Accord, an international movement with the stated mission of empowering 1 billion girls and women on the journey to fulfilled lives, is now part of the CMSD story.

The enrichment program, launched earlier this month, will bring together women from different areas of our organization for a year-long journey of leadership, mentorship, and empowerment. And while these women support different functions within the District’s walls, they are connected by commonalities, differences, and the strength they find to overcome adversities.

The launch of the Sister Accord program is a testament to our commitment to equity and inclusion, and to honoring and uplifting the women in our District. The Sister Accord will also define and advance the legacy we want to continue when we think about the Future of CMSD.

As we close out Women's History Month, I look forward to the positive impact Sister Accord will have on our District and the continuing opportunity it will create to nurture the growth of additional women at CMSD, who will join as future cohorts.

Yours in gratitude,

Dr. Warren G. Morgan

Robert H. Jamison Leadership Academy
in the Board Spotlight

Principal Alyssa Roye launched her moment in the CMSD Board Spotlight earlier this month by sharing the school’s vision, mission, and the Jamison Jaguar creed, which was drafted by Jamison students:

We are trustworthy students who are respectful and kind, and confident in our work. We are all brilliant in our own way and determined to meet our goals.

Principal Roye highlighted the school’s vision for creating young leaders through a highly focused structure called Leader In Me School, which is symbolized by a lighthouse. Leadership creation tactics include weekly grade level morning meetings around the seven habits of highly effective people; classroom morning meetings using Leader In Me SEL curriculum; and student leadership portfolios in every classroom.

Bright Spots for Robert Jamison include but are not limited to:

  • No longer a Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) as of January 2024
  • On-track to surpass end of year OST proficiency goals for ELA and Math
  • Pre-K Step Up to quality 5-star rating
  • Full-time Music teacher and Band program
  • 72 students in grades 3-8 holding building leadership roles
  •  Middle School Buddies Reading Program
