Introduction to Classical Latin

Course Description: Introduction to Latin is the first of a four-class grammar sequence. This course focuses on learning the basics of Latin grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. This course is designed to enable students to read elementary materials in Latin with ease and understanding and highly simplified Latin sentences employing the vocabulary and grammatical structures learned. Additionally, basic prefixes, suffixes, and roots of vocabulary words.  Prerequisite: None.

 

 

Structure of Latin

Course Description: Structure of Latin is the second of a four-class grammar sequence. This course focuses on elaborating on the basics of Latin grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. This course is designed to enable students to read elementary materials in Latin with ease and understanding and simplified Latin sentences employing the vocabulary and grammatical structures learned. Additionally, more complex prefixes, suffixes, and roots of vocabulary words.  Prerequisite: Introduction to Classical Latin.

 

 

Intermediate Latin Grammar

Course Description: Intermediate Latin Grammar is the third of a four-class grammar sequence. This course focuses on developing a more complex understanding of Latin grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. This course is designed to enable students to read more complex materials in Latin with ease and understanding in periodic Latin sentences employing the vocabulary and grammatical structures learned. Students will focus extensively on growing complexity of clauses and predicate analysis.  Prerequisite: Structure of Latin.

 

 

Advanced Latin Grammar

Course Description: Advanced Latin Grammar is the final of a four-class grammar sequence. This course focuses on completing a student's understanding of complex Latin grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. This course is designed to enable students to read complex materials in Latin with ease and understanding in authentic Latin sentences employing the vocabulary and grammatical structures learned. Students will focus extensively on synthesizing the learned complexity of clauses and predicate analysis.  Prerequisite: Intermediate Latin Grammar

 

 

AP Latin Prose and Poetry

Course Description: AP Latin Prose and Poetry is Capstone Course in Classical Latin. This course is to regularly and fully prepare students for success on the College Board AP Latin Examination, as well as the Latin Subject Area SAT, as well as the American Classical League National Latin Prose or Poetry Exam. This course will develop students’ abilities to translate and explicate the required passages from Caesar’s De Bello and from Vergil's Aeneid as literally as possible.  Prerequisite: Advanced Latin Grammar

 

 

Introduction to Ancient Greek

Course Description: Introduction to Ancient Greek is the first of a two-class grammar sequence. This course focuses on learning the basics of Greek grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. This course is designed to enable students to read elementary materials in Greek with ease and understanding and highly simplified Greek sentences employing the vocabulary and grammatical structures learned. Additionally, basic prefixes, suffixes, and roots of vocabulary words.  Prerequisite: Structure of Latin. or Instructor Permission

 

 

Beginning Ancient Greek

Course Description: Beginning Ancient Greek is the second of a two-class grammar sequence. This course focuses on elaborating on the basics of Greek grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. This course is designed to enable students to read elementary materials in Greek with ease and understanding and simplified Greek sentences employing the vocabulary and grammatical structures learned. Additionally, more complex prefixes, suffixes, and roots of vocabulary words.  Prerequisite: Introduction to Ancient Greek
