Course Description: Art I/II is a foundation course where students learn the basic language of creating a piece of artwork which includes learning about the elements and principles of design. It also provides students the opportunities to learn about the history of art, to experiment with methods and materials within the art process, and to critique works of art as part of the artistic process in order to understand how to appreciate their own work and the work of others. Prerequisites: None
Course Description: Photography is the art and process of capturing and recording images through the manipulation of light through the use of digital media. Students will be learning how to improve the composition of the images that they already take as well as making better image selections before they are captured. Students will be learning about the elements and principles of design along with providing students the opportunities to learn about the history of photography, to experiment with methods materials within the photographing process, and to critique photographs as part of the artistic process in order to understand how to appreciate their own work and the work of others.Students will be creating an e-portfolio and utilizing basic image editing software. Prerequisites: None
KAP Digital imaging
Course Description: KAP Digital imaging is designed for students to learn how to manipulate images through the use of digital media in the area of contemporary art. Students will use what they have learned in their Art and / or Photography classes in order to compose imagery, video and sound using computer tools and programs such as PhotoShop, Audacity, and Premiere Pro. Students will be thinking abstractly about concepts that touch them in all aspects of their lives. Students will continue to critique the artistic process in order to understand how to appreciate their own work and the work of others. Students will be creating an e-portfolio. Prerequisites: For grades 11/12; Art and/or Photography preferred. Kenyon College Credit Available
Modern Dance I/II/III
Course Description: Modern Dance sequence is made up of performance-based Fine Arts electives that look to help students improve their capacity for group work, increase their ability to apply creativity to problem-solving, develop a movement practice that increases their strength and flexibility, raises their comfort level with performance and choreography and introduces them to dance history, philosophy, and conventions. This class is recommended for students with an interest in an elective experience that is designed to be primarily experiential rather than overly academic. While reading and writing are required, it is all designed to be done in class over the course of the semester. Prerequisites: None
Course Description: Drama/Theater appreciation promotes enjoyment and appreciation for all aspects of theatre. Class work focuses on the exploration, creation, production and performance of theater. Improvisation, creative dramatics, and beginning scene work are used to introduce students to the dramatic arts.
