Get-together shows how much John Hay Cares (Photo gallery)

Ninth-graders from the John Hay Campus paired off with buddies from nearby Sunbeam School on Wednesday for a pre-holiday celebration called John Hay Cares. It was the first time for the event.

Children in kindergarten through second grade traveled to the John Hay building in University Circle, where they teamed with the high school students to decorate cookies, make cards, play games and eat pizza. They had photos taken with Elsa from the Disney feature "Frozen" and the John Hay Hornets mascot and received gifts from the students.

The John Hay Campus consists of the Cleveland School of Science and Medicine, Cleveland School of Architecture and Design and Cleveland Early College High School. Sunbeam serves as both a neighborhood school and a school for students who are considered to be medically fragile.
