Submit your FAFSA, help CMSD win competition
CMSD and College Now Greater Cleveland are encouraging the District’s graduating seniors to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, as soon as possible.
The application is critical to obtaining grants and scholarships, including the Say Yes to Education scholarships available to students who graduate from CMSD high schools.
To file online, go to fafsa.gov. For questions about the application, seniors should see their school counselor or College Now advisor
CMSD is competing with 19 other school districts across the country to see which of the districts can get the highest percentage of graduating seniors to complete the FAFSA.
The FAFSA Fast Break is sponsored by Chiefs for Change, a bipartisan nonprofit group made up of state and district education leaders. For more information on the competition, go to chiefsforchange.org/fafsa.
Completing a FAFSA is one of the requirements for receiving the Say Yes to Education scholarship.
Say Yes scholarships pay up to the full value of tuition, minus federal and state aid, to all public colleges, universities and Pell-eligible training programs in Ohio and more than 100 private colleges and universities across the country.
To receive a Say Yes scholarship, students must be continuously enrolled in a CMSD or partnering charter high school and live in the District or city of Cleveland from ninth grade through graduation.
Students in the classes of 2019 through 2022 were required to meet the residency and enrollment requirements as of Jan. 18, 2019, the day the program was announced.
