A nationwide campaign to help families make affordable, nutritious meals will begin Tuesday, June 1 in Cleveland.
Over the course of four weeks, the Partnership for a Healthier America’s Pass the Love with Waffles + Mochi campaign will provide families with ingredients and recipes for preparing the meals.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama is serving as the PHA’s honorary chair. Cleveland and Atlanta are the first of at least five cities where the campaign hopes to distribute a total of 1 million meals. The campaign’s ultimate goal is to highlight the need for equitable access to healthy food.
Pass the Love will include distribution of meal kits with recipes and ingredients inspired by the new Netflix series, Waffles + Mochi, which the former first lady stars in and serves as executive producer. The series follows two puppets as they explore the world, learning about food culture and cooking with healthy ingredients.
CMSD will partner with the campaign to distribute ingredients and recipes for an estimated 140,000 meals in Cleveland. Distribution will occur weekly for four weeks at nine school sites. See the schedule below.
Registration is encouraged but not required. To register, go to

The Pass the Love distribution is separate from CMSD’s regular summer feeding program, which also begins June 1.
