The District will hold community meetings on three major building projects.
The meeting schedule includes:
- Major renovation of Joseph M. Gallagher PreK-8 School, 6601 Franklin Blvd. The project is already under way. An update on the plans will be given at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the school’s temporary home, the former Garrett Morgan High School, 4016 Woodbine Ave.
- Construction of a new Clark PreK-8 School, 5500 Clark Ave. A meeting on the plans and design of the building, to be constructed on the current site, and a location of temporary space for students will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Clark.
- Construction of a new Marion C. Seltzer School and outdoor improvements at the city’s adjacent Cudell Recreation Center. CMSD and the city will host a public meeting on the school site plan and design and the Cudell improvements will be held at 6. p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the recreation center, 10001 Detroit Ave.
The Gallagher, Seltzer and Clark projects are expected to be completed by 2024.
The projects are part of a modernization program that began after the gym roof at the former East High School, now East Professional Center, collapsed in 2000. Since the program began, the District has built or substantially renovated 51 buildings.
The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission has paid two-thirds of eligible expenses, and bond issues approved by District voters have paid the rest. Costs for this segment of the program, including demolition of older buildings, are estimated at more than $128 million.
