Field trip helps students adjust to high school (Video)

Beginning ninth grade can be a difficult transition for many students.

Near the start of every school year, the freshman class from Facing History New Tech High School visits Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center in Bainbridge Township to learn about empathy and coping with trauma.

Students groom the horses, lead them through a course and build teamwork skills. Teachers say the experience makes a big difference in behavior and focus at school, helping the students feel more confident and comfortable.

Fieldstone Farm has 36 horses and aids more than 1,300 students across Northeast Ohio every year.
