Top graduates net nearly $4 million in scholarships

The CMSD Class of 2021’s valedictorians and salutatorians are headed off to college with nearly $4 million in scholarships.

The 60 academic standouts (See photos) are bound for colleges and universities stretching from Cleveland State University to Lone Star College in Texas. The list includes destinations such as Case Western Reserve University, Clemson and the Rochester Institute of Technology.

The District honored the valedictorians and salutatorians at this week’s Board of Education meeting. The annual ceremony was virtual again this year – hopefully, CEO Eric Gordon said, for the last time.

More than 50 of the valedictorians and salutatorians have packages that include Say Yes to Education scholarships.

To be eligible for Say Yes scholarships, students must be continuously enrolled in a CMSD or partner charter high school and live in the District or city of Cleveland from ninth grade to graduation.

Say Yes scholarships pay up to the full value of tuition, minus federal and state aid, to all public colleges, universities and Pell-eligible training programs in Ohio and more than 100 private colleges and universities across the country.
