Make Every Day Count! “Step Up…Every Class…Every Day!”

Join CMSD’s “Step Up to School” Campaign!

September is Attendance Awareness Month, a nationwide recognition of the important connection between regular school attendance and academic achievement.

Step Up to Support Cle KidsGood attendance means missing less than 10 days of school in an academic year. That’s why it’s time to STEP UP and make every day count! We know that good attendance increases students’ reading and math scores, and paves the way to a successful future and graduation. It’s important to STEP UP and attend school every day! We applaud those scholars who haven’t missed a day!

When students attend school regularly, they are far more likely to read at grade level, succeed academically, graduate on time, and be ready for the workforce. Here at CMSD, our educators work hard to encourage scholars to attend school on time, every day possible. There are also some strategic things parents and caregivers can do with our district leaders to help our scholars, STEP UP, and attend school! Here are some ideas:

Strategies for Parents to Promote Attendance:

  • Establish bedtime and morning routines.
  • Communicate challenges, such as transportation, health, or family needs, to the school.
  • Talk to your child about the importance of school and how showing up every day helps them build friendships, stay on track, and achieve future goals.

By engaging in these efforts during September and throughout the school year, schools, families, and communities can work together to ensure that every scholar has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. For more information on how YOU can monitor your scholar’s attendance and grades, be sure to sign up for the Electronic Gradebook!  We hope you will join us this 2025 – 2026 Academic School Year and promote positive attendance goals for all our scholars.
