March 18, 2020 - Update from the CEO

CEO Eric Gordon today:

To Parents and Caregivers of CMSD Students,

This is an update on our efforts to support students and families during Ohio’s mandatory school closure period.

We are continuing to provide free grab-and-go meals for all students age 18 or younger at 22 sites across the district and are operating yellow shuttle busses from all other PreK-8 schools to help families access these meal sites.  Today we have added an interactive map to our website to make it easier for you to find the shuttle and meal site closest to you.  In addition, starting Wednesday, March 18, we will be providing free paperback books as an additional academic resource available at these sites.

We are also sharing news of a partnership with Spectrum Cable that will provide free or low-cost internet to all qualifying families and assist with digital access during this public health emergency.  More information can be found on our COVID-19 resource site, www.clevelandmetroschools.org/coronavirus.  Click the Spring Break Learning Resources button to learn more.

Finally, we are continuing to provide additional resources and information daily.  To make these new resources easier to find, we have updated the top of our website with a section called New Information Today.  Please check daily to identify new resources like the ones I’ve described as we continue to find and share them with you.

Thank you.

 Eric Gordon
