11/16/2020 - American Education Week
November 16th, 2020
Dear students, parents, caregivers and staff
I am writing with a special message to my student scholars, parents and caregivers and our CMSD Educators as we celebrate American Education Week – Monday, November 16th through Friday, November 20th.
American Education Week was created to serve as an opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every student receives a quality education. This year, as we continue to navigate through the global coronavirus pandemic, I want to use American Education Week as an opportunity to say thank you to our student scholars and our parents and caregivers who have had to embrace education in completely new and different ways. Together with your teachers and other CMSD educators, you have learned how to navigate remote learning, new digital devices and platforms, intermittent internet connectivity, online classes and independent learning, and so much more. I know it would be easy to just give up, but you haven’t, and we can’t!
COVID-19 is spiking again in Cuyahoga County and in Ohio and the pandemic is not yet over. I know it may feel like this will never end, but it will. So, until a vaccine is finalized and distributed, it’s critical that we continue to support each other and get through the end of this pandemic together, so that we can finally fully get back to school, work and life again.
Please remember that CMSD is here to support you. Call our COVID-19 hotline to talk to a school nurse about your health. Call our social and emotional hotline to talk with a counselor. Call your school or your child’s teachers for help with your child’s classes, assignments or other school supports. Or simply call our main number – 216-838-0000 – or visit www.clevelandmetroschools.org/reopeningCMSD to reach out and ask for the help that you need.
Happy American Education Week, CMSD scholars, parents and caregivers, and educators! Thank you, for all you are doing as partners in education!
