The 2019 A World in Motion - Straw Rockets Program

Intended Audience: CMSD 5th Grade Classroom Instructors
Description:  The Straw Rockets Challenge-- an interactive, project-based program-- introduces students to STEM and pairs classroom teachers with industry volunteers from Arconic. In the challenge, students build rockets out of straws that meet specific performance criteria. Students explore physical science and math concepts through the Engineering Design Experience as their team works to improve the design of their rocket.


Date: Monday, January 7th
Location: CMSD East Professional Center , Room 212
Time (you will choose one when you register):
  • Session 1: 8:30am – 9:45am
  • Session 2: 10:00am – 11:15pm
  • Session 3: 1:00pm – 2:15pm
Program Implementation: Program will take place in the classroom during two weeks of your choice between January 14th and March 20th.
