Greeting Scholars and Families,
Welcome to our class! This year I will be teaching Mathematics for grades 6-8 and Social Studies for grade 6. I am excited about the opportunity to get to know each and every last one of you, and am looking forward to an exciting and productive school year. Please be assured that we will establish a set of Classroom Rules that will ensure a safe and secure, as well as respectful environment for all students. Scholars will receive a copy of the Student Code of Conduct which covers the student, teacher and parents’ rights and responsibilities for the 2015-2016 school year. Please review the district‘s policies with your scholar using the Student Code of Conduct Booklet.
Parents and Guardians can view their scholars’ grades on Engrade, an online grading system that gives parents and guardians access to their scholars’ academic progress. Scholars will be trained on how to access their grades on Engrade and are expected to train you. I will post periodic updates about what skills we are focusing on in class on Engrade. I will also inform you about what is happening in class and about upcoming tests or projects through our bi-weekly newsletter. Please use the Engrade mailing system to email me with any questions or concerns. I will respond to your email within 24 hours.
Studies show that parental involvement in a scholar’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. It is my hope that you will participate in your scholars overall educational experience at Euclid Park. You can do this by helping him/her with homework assignments, occasionally visiting the classroom, and partaking in Euclid Park’s family engagement activities. I strongly believe that our joint goal is to prepare your scholar for life after middle school and I have no doubt that together we will be successful at preparing your scholar to be college and career ready.
