The Glenville Tarblooders are headed to the state football game with one thing on their minds: bringing home another championship.

The reigning champions will defend their title Saturday night against the Kettering Archbishop Alter in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division Four Championship Game at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.

During a pep rally at Ginn Academy on Friday morning, student and staff supporters wished the team good luck and gave words of encouragement.

“Habits that you have chosen thus far have potentially gotten you to win a second championship,” said Desiree Powell, Executive Director of Health, Physical Education, Interscholastic Athletics & Student Activities.

Ted Ginn, Sr, who last year coached the team to its first state title in school history, a first for any CMSD team, says winning the championship is going to be sweeter a second time.

“I tell the players it takes courage to be different. It takes sacrifice to be successful,” he said at the pep rally.

Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
