Glenville Football Team made history again in Canton on Saturday, becoming back-to-back State Champs.
The team clinched the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division Four Football State Title by defeating the Kettering Archbishop Alter Knights 38 to 3.
Quarterback, Ruel Tomlinson says the team worked together and did their part for this win.
“This team deserves this title,” said Tomlinson who is a Ginn Academy senior. “We worked hard for this.
The Monday after the win, it was business as usual at Ginn with students attending a morning meeting where they were congratulated on becoming back-to-back champs.
D'Shawntae Jones, a running back for the team, said it felt great coming to school.
“It felt great putting on a suit and coming to school and receiving congratulations from teachers and other students,” said Ruel, Glenville High School quarterback.
Head Coach Ted Ginn Sr. says he is proud of his players and a weight has been lifted, proving Glenville can win not one but two state championships.
“We have proven we can achieve at the highest level,” said Ginn. “So, give our students, city and school district some respect.”
The football team will have lunch with Mayor Justin Bibb at City Hall and will appear on Fox 8 News Tuesday morning as part of their celebration.
