    Greetings Harvey Rice Parents/Guardians,

Can you believe it!! We have nearly completed the first quarter of the 2018-2019 school year. I am extremely optimistic about meeting our academic goal for this school year. I hope that you have had the opportunity to meet our dynamic staff and also take full advantage of our wraparound supports available to assist our scholars in being sucessful. This year we have set out to continue the journey towards academic excellence. To meet this goal it is going to take everyone of us working together to make sure that we support our scholars in the process.

To help streamline the non-academic support your scholars will need to be successful, we have created small grade specific teams. Ms. A. Johnson, our school’s Assistant Principal will serve as first point of contact for our scholars grades K-3. Mr. Abner, our Linkage Coordinator will serve as first point of contact for concerns related to our 4th and 5th grade scholars. Mr. Draper will serve as point of contact for our scholars’ grades 6th -8th. Should you have concerns that need the attention of the principal please call our school office at 216-838-1500 and request an appointment time to discuss your concern with me. The new restructuring of non-academic supports is designed to help our scholars to reach their highest potential. Each designated administrative support member will closely monitor our scholar’s progress, achievement and participation in the learning environment and arrange additional intensive supports as needed.

We will continue implementation of the Positive Behavior Intervention System (also known as PBIS) which is a school wide initiative to improve school culture and climate while maintaining an environment conducive for learning. Every student, staff, and family member will play a vital role in this program’s success. This initiative is so important that we ask you to join us in our effort to create consistency for our scholar’s behavior. At the beginning of the school year every parent received a copy of our newly created “PBIS Home Rubric”. It is our hope that our collective effort will help our scholars to display positive behaviors both in and away from school.

This year we have also repurposed the use of our Reading and Math Interventions for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. We are confident that this shift will help to increase the number of students on track for meeting and/or exceeding the Third Grade Guarantee and performing at/above grade level proficiency.

While we have made tremendous gains this past school year, we still have work to do ahead of us to meet our overall achievement goal. I am confident that we have the right people, at the right time, to do the right work, needed to ensure that every scholar succeeds at Harvey Rice Wraparound School.

    Educationally Yours,

    Jason L. Tidmore Sr.
