Dear PACT Parents:

Congratulations and welcome back to PACT at John F. Kennedy High School! We are so excited to not only be back at the historical Harvard location but to have your student as a part of this wonderful, new small school experience, designed to personalize and add relevance to their educational experience. You can rest assured the decision to be a part of such an innovative school will positively affect the number of options your child will have upon graduation. With your help, we intend to ensure that your student receives the optimal educational experience possible and to continue our Pursuit of Excellence!

Problem-based Academy for Critical Thinking (PACT) at JFK High School (Harvard) seeks to create a center of excellence that adds value to each child's cultural capital.  The school model will have a particular emphasis on Problem-based learning where projects and hands on experiences are utilized in ways that build on the interest and assets of the students, while exposing them to additional perspectives and ways to think about and explore concepts.  PACT uses the tools within Math and Science to assist students in addressing problems.  We are Problem Solvers! Much like the rich novel, The PACT, the school seeks to enter into an agreement with each student to support their academic, social and emotional development such that they meet or exceed Career and College Readiness standards.

As part of the PACT community, all students will be required to wear uniforms. Our uniforms will consist of tan, khaki pants/skirts, and white polo styled or dressed shirts. PACT polo styled shirts will be provided for the students. Students will be required to be in uniforms every day. There will be no exceptions.  Students will also have the opportunity to purchase more PACT shirts if needed.

As a show of support for both teachers and students, it is necessary for all of our parents to play an active role in the educational process. In order to ensure your child’s success at our school we strongly ask that you participate in at least one (1) event each quarter as a commitment to your child.  This will ensure that we remain on the same page with regards to the progress of your child.

As you can probably tell, we at PACT are extremely excited and motivated to do what is best for your child. We are waiting in anticipation for our Class of 2018, 2019, and 2020 to take the world by storm. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns as we draw closer to the start of this wonderful academic experience.

Warmest Regards,

Richard D. Reynolds, Head of School
