Student Conduct
Luis Munoz Marin is a Restorative school. This means that ALL scholars of Luis Munoz Marin are expected to be a S.T.A.R. which is STAY ENGAGED, THINK RESSPNSIBLY, ACT SAFELY, and RESPECT SELF & OTHERS at all times while interacting with peers and school staff. Any student who fails to meet these expectations will be subject to progressive disciplinary actions of the district which may include, but is not limited to, a restorative circle, parent contact, planning center placement, detention and/or suspension. We expect:
Cafeteria:
Scholars to remain seated throughout the duration of their time in the cafeteria, to clean their area after eating, and use voice level ONE, talking only with scholars at their table
Hallways:
Scholars to use voice level ZERO, silence, throughout the halls and report directly to their assigned areas and use a hall pass when unaccompanied by an adult
Class:
Scholars to display behaviors that promote teaching and learning. We also believe that our scholars and teachers have a right to a safe and orderly environment. Students are expected to adhere to the directives of their teachers. All students are expected to work productively and actively participate in class. students who do not behave appropriately in class. Scholars should NOT have any electronic Devices out during class time or any time during the school day. Multiple violations of the rule will result in disciplinary action.
Bus:
Scholars to remain seated while on the bus and follow the directives of the dirver to ensure theri safety and the safety of others. Any student misconduct on the bus can result in bus suspensions.
Bullying:
ALL students have the right to feel safe at school and not be intimidated, threatened, or harasses by others. Bullying is defined as any intentional act that a student does more than once that severely intimidates, threatens, and harms another student. BULLYING (including cyberbullying) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AT LUIS MUNOZ MARIN DUAL LANGUAGE ACADEMY! Any student who feels that they are being bullied is expected to immediately notify school staff so appropriate action can be taken. Bullying is a Level III expellable offense and students who engage in bullying will be disciplined following corresponding district guidelines.
Electronic Devices:
Students are NOT ALLOWED TO USE electronic devices including pagers, cell phones, mp3 players, iPods, and all other electronic devices during the school day. Any electronic device that is seen or heard during the school day may be immediately confiscated by school staff and turned into an administrator. Please read the district Code of Conduct Handbook regarding confiscation of electronic devices.
