Special Education Summer Learning Experience
CMSD’S spectacular Summer Learning Experience includes special education supports to enable all students to take advantage of opportunities to finish their coursework and explore the city through innovative projects, and for families to re-engage with the school community after a long and challenging year.
All courses projects and workshops are designed to meet the needs of all students, regardless of their abilities and to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for every child.
- Intervention Specialists and paraprofessionals collaborate with regular education teachers to provide services and supports to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Students engage with their peers and learn academic content based on their current needs.
- IEP’s will be used to guide the work of Intervention Specialists and the design of small-group academic instruction.
- Special education students participate in fun and relevant enrichment projects with their grade-level peers to build their confidence, ignite their creativity and practice problem-solving skills.
High School Supports
CMSD’s summer learning experience provide a host of opportunities for students at every level to work toward high school graduation credits and to engage in fun and inspiring projects. Intervention Specialists will be available to enable full participation and support high school students with special needs.
Related Service Providers(School Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Interpreters, and others)Student supports include social emotional learning, crisis management, Sensory, Gross and Fine Motor Skills and Mobility.
Coursework, workshops and engagement activities are open to all students.
